These dances were taken from a much larger suite originally for 4 recorders. Style is everything with these short pieces. Brilliant fortes are contrasted with smooth lyrical playing. The ensemble must work together to match articulations, dynamic and style. This piece would work well for either a chamber quartet or for a full string orchestra.
