To call this madrigal chromatic is a drastic understatement. This piece is very striking in its use of chromaticism. All the typical staggered entrances and polyphonic writing found in most madrigals are contained in this piece. The chromaticism takes this work and creates a sound that we may attribute to a composition in the Twentieth Century rather than one from 1611.
